Following a court order, an FIR was registered at Bakewar police station on Sept 19 against him, his brother Asit Kumar, mother Rammurti Devi, sister-in-law Anju Devi and father Malkhan Singh.
She said that Arun is a teacher in Rajpur, Chakarnagar. Police admitted her to the district hospital after her condition worsened. The woman, from a village in Bharthana police station area, reached the office with her younger brother and brother-in-law to demand the arrests. SSP Brijesh Kumar Shrivastava assured prompt action.
Kanpur: A woman consumed pesticide at the SSP office on Tuesday, alleging that police had failed to arrest a teacher accused of sexually exploiting her on the pretext of marriage.
She said she had married a man from a village in Ekdil area in 2013 who died of a heart attack in 2014. She later began working at a private hospital in Etawah to support her 11-year-old son. In 2025, she came into contact with Arun Kumar Gautam and they began speaking on the phone. The woman said the accused has not been arrested even after 10 days.

She alleged that Arun told her that his wife had left home long ago and that he lived alone. The woman further alleged that Arun repeatedly established physical relations against her wishes on the pretext of marriage. He later took her to a village, forcibly applied sindoor and claimed that they were married. Station House Officer KK Mishra reached the hospital and initiated an investigation. Download the TOI App.
