30-year-old Akshay Kadam lost his life in a car accident after he lost control of his vehicle
NAVI MUMBAI: A 30-year-old man driving his Honda City car was killed and his two friends, both paternal cousin brothers accompanying him were injured after the driver lost control over the wheels on the Mangaon-Mahad stretch of Mumbai-Goa highway after crossing Mangaon railway station and veering off the road crashed into the iron gate of an industrial unit. The fatal accident occured on Monday around 3 am, when the three friends had gone for dinner at a roadside food stall in Mangaon and were returning to their respective villages in Mahad taluka. The injured complainant stated in the FIR registered at Mangaon police station that the accused car driver and his cousin had consumed liquor before going for dinner.
Those injured are Rohit Rajendra Dhadve (24), working as safety officer at Astriel Life Science Pvt Ltd in Mahad MIDC and his cousin Roshan Dilip Dhadve (24). ” As per the FIR by the complainant Rohit Dhadve, on Sept 28 around 1 am, when he was at home, his paternal cousin Roshan spoke to him over mobile, when Roshan’s maternal cousin Akshay Kadam accompanying him told Rohit that he had come from Mumbai and asked him to meet near the bus stand at Kembhurli. They reached Mangaon around 2 am, where they ate parathas at a road side food stall and took parcel of Khima Pav. Thereafter, they drove for 3 kms towards Indapur and took a U-turn to return to their villages in Mahad. After crossing 300 metres from Mangaon railway Station, Akshay lost control over the wheels and yanking off the road on the right side, he crashed into the iron gate of Sundha Steel Traders industrial unit.
Maruti Andhale, senior inspector of Mangaon said, “As the complainant Rohit Dhadve has stated in the FIR that the accused Akshay Kadam drove the car after consuming liquor along with his cousin Roshan, when they had meet near the bus stop, after which they went to Mangaon for dinner, the Motor Vehicle Act section for drunk driving will be invoked. Thereafter, Akshay said, “Let’s go to Mangaon to have food and the three of them went in the car with Akshay at the wheels. The deceased driver was identified as Akshay Arjun Kadam, a resident of Nandgaon, Mahad taluka. Both residents of Kembhurli, Mahad taluka. When Rohit met them at the spot, Roshan and Akshay were consuming liquor inside Akshay’s Honda City car. Roshan was sitting beside Akshay and Rohit on the rear seat. Rohit sustained injuries below his left eye, left hand and left knee. Akshay got stuck between the driver’s seat and the door. Roshan’s left leg was injured.
However, as the accused car driver Akshay Kadam responsible for the car crash had died in the accident, a final closure ‘Abated summary’ report will be submitted before the Mangaon magistrate court.
Hearing the loud noice of the car crash, the locals gathered, removed the three injured out of the car and summoned 108 ambulance in which they were rushed to Mangaon sub-district hospital, where Akshay was declared brought dead on arrival.
