Bengaluru: Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the fake medicine racket detected in Tavareke in Bengaluru South district, has arrested another accused, identified as Balasubramanian, following the arrest of alleged kingpin R Prashanth Babu.
Investigators have found that Prashanth, who has been taken into custody for 10 days, had travelled to several countries, including Turkey and Azerbaijan.
Balasubramanian was acting as the owner of another company belonging to Prashanth, according to the investigation. Assistant commissioner of police Anjan Kumar and his team arrested Balasubramanian in Chennai Tuesday. Meanwhile, SIT is digging into Prashanth’s travel history and foreign network. SIT has found that Prashanth had travelled to Turkey to procure medical-related items. He had also allegedly been caught there for illegally transporting items and was taken into custody by local police. Investigators are also examining his bank transactions.
