Three Rs 50,000 bats disappear from cricketer’s kit during practice in Agra; father says he avoided police complaint as children train at academy
In a video recorded at the ground, Chahar said each of the missing bats was worth around Rs 50,000 and had been specially prepared for international-level cricket. Chahar’s father Lokendra Singh Chahar, who coaches at the ground, said the academy had remained closed following warnings of heavy rain and storms, but Deepak went there on Sept 27 to practise with some children. Because several children trained at the academy and he did not want police personnel coming to the ground, lokendra said the family had not approached the police.
Appealing directly to the person who took them, the Agra-born pacer said he was willing to give them money instead if that was what they needed, and joked that the bats might otherwise end up being sold or used for tennis-ball cricket. After the practice session, three selected bats were found missing from the kit bag, while the rest of the equipment remained intact,” he said. “If he files a complaint, we will take action as per law,” Tyagi said.
