Training course on Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast (ADS-B) technology at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar airport
The 19-day programme will be held from Sept 28 to Oct 16, with 14 people participating from across India.
Airport director S B Yewale said that ADS-B is a next-generation surveillance technology, through which aircraft automatically broadcast their precise position, altitude, speed and identification. “The system enhances situational awareness, boosts safety and improves efficiency in air traffic management, reducing dependence on conventional radar,” he said. “The curriculum of the programme covers system architecture, installation, maintenance and integration of ADS-B with existing air traffic management systems, combining theory with hands-on operational training,” Yewale said.

He added that the initiative strengthens India’s technical capacity in modern air navigation and cements Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Airport as a hub for advanced aviation training and knowledge development. The programme also focuses on developing specialised manpower in advanced communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) systems. “The initiative strengthens the technical capabilities of the participating personnel. With the aviation sector witnessing rapid growth and technological upgrades, such specialised capacity-building programmes are crucial to ensure safe, efficient and future-ready air navigation services in India,” added Yewale.
