Dr Vaidehi Taman
Maharashtra-based author and researcher Dr Vaidehi Taman has devoted years to documenting Kashmir’s spiritual, literary and intellectual heritage through five books and chronicles. Her research journeys across the Valley have taken her beyond contemporary political narratives to explore its ancient texts, philosophers, saints, mystics, cultural traditions and civilisational memory. Her works include Lal Ded – The Mother of Kashmir , Abhinavagupta – The Voice of Eternal Shiva and research connected to the Nilamata Purana .
Her book Lal Ded – The Mother of Kashmir , published by Gulshan Books Kashmir, was launched in Srinagar earlier this year during the Lal Ded Literary Awards, attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and several scholars, writers and cultural personalities.

Taman’s writing explores figures such as 14th-century mystic poet Lal Ded and philosopher Abhinavagupta, while also examining Kashmir Shaivism, Rishi traditions and Sufi thought.
