Pilibhit : Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR) divisional forest officer (DFO) Manish Singh has won Eco Warrior Award-2026 in the ‘Protected Area Management’ category for his field interventions in tiger and wildlife conservation. Singh was selected from 12 nominees in the category and was among 15 forest officials honoured across eight categories. PTR recorded one human death in a tiger attack in 2026, compared with 12 in 2024 and five in 2025.

UP principal chief conservator of forest (wildlife) Anuradha Vemuri said the award reflected Singh’s commitment to protecting tigers and their habitat and engaging local communities. He said, “Enhanced surveillance through PT-Red cameras, habitat and water management, and community outreach helped reduce tiger movement into agricultural areas. Singh is the second forest officer from UP to receive the national award in two consecutive years. Singh attributed the recognition to a sharp decline in fatal human-wildlife conflicts. Last year, UP principal chief conservator of forest (head of forest forces) Sunil Chaudhary was honoured under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ category. He received the award from Union environment, forest and climate change minister Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi on Tuesday.
