Police say Ortiz drove from Florida with rifle
The indictment against 36-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz of Orlando was unsealed on Wednesday, a day after a judge ruled that she was mentally competent to stand trial, according to The Associated Press. A judge ordered her held on USD 2.6 million bail. No one was injured in the shooting, but authorities said bullets struck an Airstream trailer occupied by Rihanna and A$AP Rocky.
Investigators said she told them, “I wasn’t attempting murder.” Ortiz appeared in court in yellow jail clothing, while her attorney entered a not guilty plea on her behalf. The new grand jury indictment replaces those charges and could allow prosecutors to bypass California’s preliminary hearing process. Gunfire also hit the exterior wall of a second-floor nursery where the couple’s three children were with their nanny. Ortiz was arrested later the same day.
Ortiz had previously been charged in March with attempting to murder Rihanna and with more than a dozen other felony offences.
