Man Arrested Issues Fake Teacher Appointment Letter for Rs 2.30 Lakh Caught in Azamgarh
Varanasi: Mehnajpur police in Azamgarh district on Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly duping a job aspirant of Rs 2.30 lakh on the promise of securing him a job as an assistant teacher and issuing a forged appointment letter. He alleged that the accused, Harishchandra alias Haricharan Ram (around 50), a resident of Bela Kalichpur, posed as an employee of the Basic Education Office in Azamgarh and assured him of securing an appointment as an assistant teacher. Following an investigation, police arrested the accused from Manikpur and recovered a fake Basic Education Office identity card, a forged official seal, an Aadhaar card, a mobile phone and Rs 10,000 in cash from his possession.

The complaint was lodged by Laxman Vishwakarma, a resident of Hilalpur, according to Azamgarh SSP Anil Kumar . When Vishwakarma sought a refund, the accused allegedly kept delaying the return of the money. The victim subsequently lodged a complaint at Mehnajpur police station. Download the TOI App.
The accused allegedly showed a fake identity card and demanded Rs 2.30 lakh in cash from the victim. However, when he reported to join duty on the basis of the letter, it was found to be fake. Believing his claims, Vishwakarma handed over the money, following which he was given a forged appointment letter.
