NMC’s fire control room received the first call at 12.11am, reporting a fire at the shop owned by Haji Mohammed Waqil. A fire tender from Sakkardara fire station was immediately dispatched and reached the spot at around 12.14am.
No person sustained injuries, said fire officials. Property worth around Rs70 lakh was damaged, according to the preliminary assessment by the fire department. Nagpur: A major fire broke out at a decoration material shop in Taj Bagh in the early hours of Wednesday, triggering panic in the densely populated locality and prompting the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s fire and emergency services to launch a firefighting operation. As the shop was stocked with highly combustible decoration material, the fire quickly intensified and spread across the premises. The fire brigade sought additional support and more firefighting resources were rushed to the spot to prevent the flames from spreading to neighbouring structures. The fire caused extensive damage to decoration material and other goods stored in the shop. Decoration material, carpets, sofa sets, electrical equipment and other articles were destroyed in the blaze. The fire department has recorded a short circuit as the suspected cause of the fire. Officials will conduct a further assessment to establish the exact circumstances leading to the incident.
