GTA 6 could miss out on the chance to win Game of the Year (GOTY) at The Game Awards 2026, despite being one of the most highly anticipated games of the year. During a livestream, Alanah Pearce discussed the possibility of GTA 6 winning several awards at The Game Awards 2026. With GTA 6 scheduled to release in November, the timing could create a problem. She noted that completing an 80-hour game in such a limited time would be difficult.

Because of its late release, when a viewer suggested that Rockstar could sweep the show, Pearce questioned whether the game could qualify for Game of the Year.

“How could anyone finish the game?” she asked, pointing to the short time available for voters. Pearce said that voters might have only a short period to play the game and decide whether to nominate it. The schedule is too close to allow the process to change, according to Pearce.

Former Game Awards jury member Alanah Pearce has raised concerns about whether the game can qualify for the top prize. She explained that the voting schedule could make it difficult for jury members to finish such a large game before casting their votes. She also argued that if jury members nominated the game without playing enough of it, that would raise questions about the voting process.

The game is expected to launch in November, leaving voters with little time to play it before the awards.
