At DevDay 2026 held recently, OpenAI rolled out over 20 major updates across ChatGPT, Codex and its model lineup. The annual event highlighted a shift toward an open ecosystem, turning ChatGPT into a shared environment where developers can release native tools to 1.2 billion weekly active users. If you use ChatGPT in your day-to-day workflow, here is an easy-to-understand breakdown of what these updates mean for daily users, what features are arriving and who gets access.
Mobile (iOS & Android): Users can currently search, read, and share Space documents on your phone. Native document creation and editing tools on mobile will launch soon.
Enterprise, Education and Healthcare: Accessible as a beta feature. It is switched off by default, meaning a workspace administrator must manually turn it on before team members can use it.
Pro and Business Premium: Available directly in eligible markets. Codex in the cloud is available to users across these plans: Plus, Pro, Business, Education, Healthcare and Enterprise Desktop App & Web: Fully available now for Pro, Business, and Enterprise users.
