Rowan’s generosity was evident in everyday moments as well. During a family trip to Walt Disney World through Bert’s Big Adventure, he noticed a younger child who was nervous about meeting Disney characters.
As per the report, Rowan’s cancer journey began in August 2021, when he was eight years old. After experiencing repeated vomiting and growing increasingly weak, he was taken to an emergency department, where a CT scan revealed a golf-ball-sized blockage in his brain.
With support from Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s Travel For Care programme, his family was also able to manage the demands of travelling for treatment. Rowan’s generosity was evident in everyday moments as well. During a family trip to Walt Disney World through Bert’s Big Adventure, he noticed a younger child who was nervous about meeting Disney characters. Rowan stayed beside him and helped him feel comfortable. His family also made space for experiences beyond hospitals and treatment, including ziplining, hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and walking along beaches. For Sugar Hill, Rowan’s legacy now extends beyond his battle with cancer. The city’s proclamation highlighted his kindness, perseverance and commitment to helping other children facing similar illnesses.

He underwent emergency neurosurgery and was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a form of paediatric brain cancer. Weeks in hospital were followed by daily proton radiation and more than a year of chemotherapy.
