Chitradurga police step up vigil for Oct 3 Ganesha idol immersion procession

Chitradurga : Chitradurga district police have deployed 3,299 personnel and introduced extensive surveillance and traffic measures for Hindu Maha Ganapati immersion procession and Shobhayatra scheduled in Chitradurga on Oct 3, superintendent of police Kushal Chouksey said on Thursday. The city has been divided into 18 sectors for mobile patrolling, while nine check-posts will operate on its outskirts. Police have initiated security proceedings against 514 rowdy-sheeters and 59 communal offenders and formed four pick-up squads. Twenty-two hospitals have reserved 300 emergency beds.

Police personnel from Chitradurga, Bengaluru and other districts, along with KSRP, DAR and rapid response teams, will be deployed. Teams will monitor chain-snatching, mobile thefts, pickpocketing, fake news and provocative or communally sensitive social media content. Six fire tenders, eight ambulances, five emergency response teams and five first-aid centres will be stationed along the route.
