Muzaffarnagar : A special Pocso court in Mainpuri on Thursday sentenced a 26-year-old man to rigorous life imprisonment for raping an eight-year-old Dalit girl in 2023. The court imposed a Rs 1 lakh fine on the convict. During investigation, the minor survivor identified her tormentor from photographs shown to her by cops, which led to his arrest.
The additional district govt counsel, the girl’s father filed a police complaint stating a man from their place in Mainpuri district took his daughter to a newly-built vacant house around 2pm on July 8, 2023, and violated her, leaving her critically hurt, according to Shailendri Rajput.
Recommending compensation for the minor’s mother under CrPC 357, the court ordered that the “convict remain in prison for the rest of his natural life”. During the trial, the court of special judge (Pocso Act) Jahendra Pal Singh considered the survivor’s testimony along with other evidence before holding the accused guilty under Pocso Act.
