Key accused in Rs 1.5cr loan scam in Jaunpur arrested

Lucknow: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday arrested a key accused in a case involving the alleged fraudulent sanction and disbursal of loans worth around Rs 1.5 crore under various govt-backed schemes in Jaunpur.

1324/2015 at Line Bazaar police station in Jaunpur under Sections 409, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC and Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The EOW alleged that the accused entered into a criminal conspiracy, prepared forged loan documents and manipulated records to show disbursal of loans, resulting in the alleged misappropriation of govt funds amounting to approximately Rs 1.5 crore.

The accused, Jogendra Prasad alias Yogendra Prasad, a resident of Premapur village under Gaurabadshahpur police station in Jaunpur, was arrested by an EOW team from JCJ Chauraha, officials said. The arrest was made as part of an ongoing drive to apprehend accused persons wanted in financial crime cases. The case was registered as FIR No.
