CHENNAI: DMK president M K Stalin on Friday accused Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay of “shopping for MLAs” to save his govt while people struggled to afford even essential commodities. Stalin said experienced professionals were leaving Guidance-Tamil Nadu, the state’s investment promotion agency, for other states, and alleged that the state was heading towards a decline in all sectors ranging from industry and power to healthcare, law and order and dairy. He alleged that prices had risen sharply in the past four months after TVK came to power. Taking a swipe at Vijay’s social media activity, Stalin asked whether watching reels would fill people’s stomachs and accused the TVK govt of focusing on projecting its achievements rather than addressing people’s problems. He alleged that TN’s economic performance had deteriorated under TVK govt, with GST revenue declining for three consecutive months even as the nation witnessed a rise. Download the TOI App.

In a post on X, Stalin said while campaigning in Dharapuram on Friday, he inquired at a grocery shop about prices and found that the cost of essential commodities had increased significantly, leaving households struggling to meet their daily cooking expenses.
