The issues started around 5.30 PM on November 18, affecting multiple functionalities across desktop, mobile, and web players, according to outage tracking website DownDetector. As per Downdetector, around 93% users complained of app related issue, while 6% had problems with streaming and 1% reported issues with the websites. Millions of Spotify users across the globe are facing widespread disruitpns and service malfunctions.
The disruption began around 6:00 AM ET (4.30 pm IST) when an issue with Cloudflare’s support portal provider surfaced, quickly spreading to broader service problems, according to the outage-tracking website Downdetector. In its official status page, Cloudflare initially wrote: “Cloudflare is aware of, and investigating an issue which impacts multiple customers: Widespread 500 errors, Cloudflare Dashboard and API also failing. Users of several popular websites, including Spotify, X (formerly Twitter) and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, have reported facing issues.
The content delivery network provider, Cloudflare, is causing this multi-platform disruption. We are working to understand the full impact and mitigate this problem. More updates to follow shortly.”
