Hyderabad: Infrastructure works worth Rs 52,000 crore are underway in Hyderabad to meet the city’s future requirements as its population and boundaries expand, deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Friday. Speaking at the launch of the TGSRTC-Metro Rail Common Pass at Praja Bhavan, Bhatti said Rs 35,000 crore worth of projects had been taken up within HMDA limits, including roads, flyovers and bridges. Including works by GHMC , water works and other agencies, the total value of ongoing projects stood at Rs 52,000 crore, he said. He said Metro Phase-II would add 122 km to the network at an estimated cost of Rs 38,000 crore, covering the Old City, airport, Patancheru and Hayathnagar. Bhatti said Phase-I of the Musi rejuvenation had commenced, while Bharat Future City was being developed across 30,000 acres to attract investments and create jobs.
“Strengthening civic infrastructure in advance is necessary to meet the requirements of Hyderabad’s growing population,” Bhatti said, adding that the govt was focused on delivering projects rather than publicity.
