Tailoring worker, seriously injured after stray dogs attacked him in Kanpur
Kanpur: A 42-year-old man was seriously injured after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs in Tiwaripur under Jajmau police station limits on Saturday morning. Vinod Kumar Nishad, a tailoring worker and resident of Tadbagiya in Jajmau, had stepped out to buy milk when a pack of stray dogs chased him about 20 metres from his house, according to police. The child suffered around 10 bite injuries and was left bleeding.

A resident, Pradeep Nishad, said that about six stray dogs attacked his six-year-old son, Aarav Nishad, a Class I student, while he was playing outside their home last Sunday. Pradeep said he lodged a complaint with Nagar Nigam, but no action was taken. Residents said packs of stray dogs roamed the streets during the morning and evening hours, posing a threat to children and elderly people.
He suffered bite injuries at around a dozen places on his body. He tried to run but fell after one of the dogs grabbed his leg. Soon, seven to eight dogs surrounded him and attacked him. After two attacks within five days, residents have demanded an immediate dog-catching drive to protect children and passers-by. Download the TOI App.
Residents alleged that stray dogs had terrorised Tiwaripur and adjoining areas, biting around 20 people over the past two months, including schoolchildren. Hearing his screams, nearby residents rushed to the spot and drove the dogs away with sticks. Vinod was taken to Kanshiram Hospital, in a critical condition where he is undergoing treatment.
