Madikeri: Police attached to Shanivarsanthe police station in Kodagu district arrested two persons on Sunday for allegedly transporting 17kg of beef illegally on a two-wheeler.

Bashir suffered a heart attack at the airport and died, according to police sources. Acting on a tip-off provided by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike, police intercepted and arrested Abjul, a native of Assam, and Ashik, a native of West Bengal. The duo was allegedly transporting the beef from Abburu Machigondanalli in Arkalgud taluk to Kodlipet. Circle inspector G Krishnaraj of Shanivarsanthe police station has registered a case and initiated further investigation. The deceased was identified as Bashir, son of the late Mammad and a resident of Master Layout, near the KEB office in Suntikoppa, Kodagu district. His body will be brought to Suntikoppa for the last rites. Bashir had been working in Kuwait for several years. He is survived by his wife and daughters. Download the TOI App.
