Haseena was given paracetamol and discharged even though her condition deteriorated after surgery, according to the complaint. Haseena’s family has lodged a complaint with Gandhinagar Police in Kottayam alleging serious negligence by the hospital authorities. It further alleges that she did not receive the necessary treatment when she was brought back to the hospital in a worsened condition.
The activists, who began the siege at 10am, demanded a comprehensive probe into the death of Haseena (49), wife of Hasan Kunju of Puthoorpally in Changanassery. The protest was called off after about two hours, following an assurance that an investigation team, including doctors from outside MCH, would be set up. She died at the hospital last Friday Hospital authorities, however, maintain that Haseena developed an infection after returning home following the surgery and that it caused her death.
