A cab driver allegedly snatched a 66-year-old farmer’s mobile phone and used a digital payment

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A cab driver allegedly snatched a 66-year-old farmer’s mobile phone and used a digital payment platform to siphon off Rs 90,000 from his bank account in three transactions, police said.

The incident occurred near the Devi temple in Vishnunagar between 3.38pm on Oct 1 and 10am on Oct 2, according to the complaint.

Baheti told police that he could not lodge the complaint immediately as his wife was unwell. Jawahar Nagar police registered an FIR against cab driver Deepak Simon Shelke and Kunal Deepak Shelke following a complaint by Dwarkadas Harinarayan Baheti, a resident of Kasliwal Marble in the Beed Bypass area. Baheti alleged that Deepak forcibly snatched his Samsung Galaxy A15 phone. He approached police after her condition improved. Jawahar Nagar police are investigating the alleged roles of both the cab driver and the recipient of the money. Sub-inspector Kamble is conducting the probe.
