Lucknow: Chief secretary SP Goyal was informed at a national livestock digital mission meeting chaired by him on Monday that 75,006 dogs had been sterilised and vaccinated under the ongoing animal birth control programme across 17 municipal corporations from April 1 to Sept 15. This averaged 802 dogs per corporation each month.
He was informed that 99.85% of the work of forming nodal officers at the panchayat level has been completed, while 92.28% of the work of forming nodal officers at the ward level in urban areas is also done. The CS added that the work of nominating a nodal officer in every ward should be sped up so that activities related to livestock and street dogs in urban areas can be monitored effectively.
Pending works should be reviewed and monitored regularly to ensure progress within the prescribed timelines,” he said. The CS reviewed the creation of digital livestock records on the Bharat Pashudhan app and directed officials to accelerate work under the national livestock digital mission, with emphasis on updating the app with complete, good-quality livestock data. “Nomination of nodal officers in urban local bodies and gram panchayats should be completed within three days. Once the nodal system is formed, the mapping of stray animals should begin immediately. For effective implementation of the scheme, better coordination should be established at the state, district and local levels.
