Indian professor working at Montana State University came under attack on social media along with other Indian scholars working at the university, as the Montana Governor went to India on an official visit.

“Montana State University’s Mechanical/Industrial Engineering Department is headed by a graduate of the Punjab Agricultural University,” the account posted from the website of the university. “Montana State University’s Dean of the College of Agriculture is a graduate of the Kerala Agricultural University in India,” the post said about Sreekala Bajwa. “Montana State University Professor Shivali Banerjee is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay,” the post said, without knowing the standard of IITs in India. “Montana State University Professor Amalesh Jana is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and Jadavpur University,” the post said about the fourth person. “IIT Bombay is one of the best universities in India, you need to be a really smart student to get into that,” a third user wrote.

The same screenshot showed that Dilpreet Singh Bajwa, the head of the department, did his MS and PhD in the US, from the University of Illinois. Sreekala did her master’s at IIT Kharagpur and then her doctorate from the University of Illinois. Jana did his PhD at Oregon State University.
