Madurai: Madras high court on Wednesday dismissed a plea which sought a direction to the authorities to take effective steps to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.

A division bench of Justice P Velmurugan and Justice K K Ramakrishnan dismissed the public interest litigation filed by K K Ramesh of Madurai. The petitioner stated that mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and malaria have become major health concerns.
