Pilibhit: An FIR was registered against two doctors and other staff of a private hospital in Pilibhit’s Amaria following a judicial magistrate’s order after an alleged botched delivery left a 32-year-old woman with a ruptured uterus.
Her husband said that the injury left her unable to conceive again.
Complainant Laxman Prasad, 40, said he took his pregnant wife, Kusum Devi, to Bhole Healthcare Hospital on Aug 1 after the local community health centre declined to conduct a normal delivery. Prasad said the hospital owner, Dr Lakhan Singh, promised a normal delivery for Rs 20,000. During the procedure, staff allegedly applied excessive pressure to Devi’s abdomen while Singh’s wife, Dr Rajni Rathore, forcibly pulled the baby out, rupturing the woman’s uterus and causing uncontrolled bleeding.
The complaint alleged that hospital staff made Prasad, who is uneducated, sign papers before discharging his wife in a critical condition without providing medical records. She was taken to another private hospital in Pilibhit, where she underwent emergency surgery, received five units of blood and was placed on ventilator support in the ICU. Meanwhile, the hospital has not issued any statement on the allegations.
