Bengaluru: A committee headed by Bengaluru East City Corporation (BECC) commissioner DS Ramesh has been formed to oversee road development works at Varthur, with officials asked to expedite land acquisition in cases where Transferable Development Rights (TDR) have been completed and push for completion of pending TDR cases.

The committee comprises the BECC commissioner as its chairperson, the additional commissioner, KRDCL managing director, Bescom and revenue department officials and the deputy commissioner of police (traffic). There are several TDR-related cases linked to Varthur road projects. Officials have been directed to acquire land wherever TDR formalities are complete and take up road development. In cases where TDR is pending, officials have been asked to engage with landowners and facilitate its completion. Wednesday, BECC additional commissioner Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar reviewed road and flyover works, utility shifting, drainage and traffic management, and directed officials to expedite pending works. He also ordered immediate filling of potholes, removal of construction debris and silt, and repairs to damaged footpaths, drains and slabs along ITPL Main Road and at Kundalahalli Colony.
