Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday accused Congress of staging a drama over action against former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s land disputes, alleging that the Congress lacked the courage to act against corruption during the BRS regime.
Bandi was speaking at a ‘Seva Jyothi’ rally organised by the BJP Karimnagar district unit from Geetha Bhavan crossroads to Housing Board Colony Padma Chowk to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s 25 years in public service.
He also alleged a “secret pact” between Congress and BRS, claiming Congress lacked the courage to act against BRS, while the latter was unwilling to take on Congress over its six guarantees.
Bandi said he would accept whatever responsibility the party entrusts to him.
He cited the 1946 Congress decision to make Jawaharlal Nehru Prime Minister despite several Pradesh Congress Committees backing Sardar Patel. Urging Gen Z voters not to be misled by Congress and other parties, he asked them to compare India’s development before and after 2014.
He criticised Opposition parties for targeting the Election Commission, saying Congress had “patent rights” over vote and seat theft. Calling the EC a constitutional body and not a BJP “pocket organisation”, Bandi said attacks on constitutional institutions could undermine democracy. Amid reports that Bandi Sanjay is likely to be given a key responsibility in Telangana BJP, he said, “BJP has given me several positions and opportunities.
He asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to seek an appointment with the EC instead of leading protests. I am not a person who runs after positions.”
