Kolkata: A 23-year-old woman from north Kolkata lost Rs 1.2 lakh to a digital arrest fraud. The ordeal began on Sept 27 when the woman, a resident of Jorabagan, received a phone call from an unknown number, according to police. The caller identified himself as an officer attached to the Kolkata Police Police Headquarters, Lalbazar, and claimed that her mobile number had been flagged in connection with explicit adult content hosted on illicit websites.
