Instead, the former Silicon Valley founder is using 11 AI agents to handle parts of her family’s education and everyday household work.
Genet, a former Y Combinator founder who previously built and sold a packaging company, said she had expected to step away from technical work for several years so she could focus on her children. For Jesse Genet, running a household with four young children and homeschooling three of them could easily be a full-time job. That changed after she began experimenting with AI agents that could build and complete tasks for her.
Genet said she uses agents to order groceries, buy items needed for children’s activities and handle other household tasks. She said she wants to use AI whenever she encounters a task that takes her away from what she actually wants to be doing, such as spending time with her children. Genet’s three older children are aged five, four and two, while her fourth child is a baby. She uses AI agents to help prepare lessons based on the homeschooling curricula she follows. Her main homeschooling agent, which she calls Sylvie, has access to the core curriculum texts, Genet’s education philosophy and photos of the Montessori materials available at home. It can create lesson plans and suggest which materials to use. Genet also uses voice notes and photos to record what her children learned. An agent turns those quick updates into detailed lesson logs, helping it keep track of where each child is in the curriculum. The AI is not limited to homeschooling.
