LUCKNOW: The Saharanpur-Gomti Nagar Vande Bharat Express (26503) was delayed by 35 minutes after hitting a cow between Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) and Mahmoodabad railway stations near Lucknow on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred at 1.29pm near Nandana crossing on the Bakshi Ka Talab-Mahmoodabad section, when a cow strayed onto the railway tracks and was run over by the train, according to railway officials. The incident resulted in a detention of approximately 35 minutes at the site, temporarily affecting the train’s scheduled movement.
The train’s guard immediately reported the cattle run-over incident to railway authorities, following which railway personnel rushed to the spot to clear the tracks. Railway officials said the track was cleared by 2pm, following which the train resumed its journey towards Gomti Nagar in Lucknow. The impact reportedly damaged the train’s front portion. The cow died in the collision, and its carcass was removed from the tracks. Download the TOI App.
