Chennai: A woman and her 15-year-old son suffered severe burns after their relative poured boiling water on them during a property dispute at a village near RK Pet in Tiruttani.
Murugan , a mason from Sellathur village, and his elder brother Devaraj , 40, a vegetable vendor, had been involved in a property dispute for some time. As the quarrel escalated, Devaraj’s wife Thangam brought boiling water drained from cooked rice and poured it on Murugan’s wife Seetha , and son Yuvaraj. On Wednesday night, an argument broke out between the two families over the property.

Both suffered severe burns. Neighbours rushed them to a primary health centre for first aid. They were subsequently referred to Sholinghur Government Hospital before being shifted to Tiruvallur Government Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
