The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

New Delhi: What was meant to be a birthday celebration turned tragic in the early hours of Sunday when an Audi allegedly driven rashly by a 17-year-old rammed into three vehicles and hit a pedestrian near a traffic signal in Kishangarh, killing him.

Investigators said the teenager had allegedly rented the luxury car through an online app for a night out with friends.

The accident occurred around 2.30 am near the SPYM cut traffic signal, opposite a CNG pump on Kishangarh Main Road, near Vasant Kunj. The pedestrian, a man aged around 45, suffered grievous injuries and was taken to Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre, where he was declared dead. A case has been registered at Kishangarh police station under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 3/181 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

“The vehicle, allegedly being driven by the 17-year-old minor in conflict with law (CCL), collided with three other vehicles,” a senior police officer said. Police received a PCR call reporting a crash involving multiple vehicles and rushed to the spot, where vehicles were found damaged. Police later established that he was a resident of Vasant Kunj. Police called the crime team to inspect the spot and seized the Audi and the other vehicles involved in the collision.
