Telangana has received 17% below-normal rainfall due to the impact of El Niño, with drought conditions reported in 235 mandals, according to the chief minister’s office (CMO).
Hyderabad : With Telangana grappling with a rainfall deficit and drought-like conditions across large parts of the state, chief minister A Revanth Reddy will chair a special cabinet meeting on Oct 12 to review the impact of El Niño and finalise relief and mitigation measures for affected regions. The issue was discussed extensively at the recent cabinet meeting, following which the chief minister directed officials to hold consultations with political parties, farmers’ bodies and subject experts on the impact of El Niño and the measures required to tackle the emerging crisis.
