Singh reportedly told the official that he and the woman were living together happily of their own free will, without any pressure or compulsion. The petitioners stated that their daughter left India to pursue an MBA at Anglia Ruskin University in the UK. They claimed that they had received no information about her whereabouts, safety or well-being since her departure. They further stated that she had travelled with Harshdeep Singh and apprehended that he had illegally detained her. The parents had approached the Indian high commission, which informed them that a consular official had contacted Singh at the telephone number provided. However, the petitioners continued to apprehend that their daughter was being detained by Singh and sought to ascertain whether she was living with him of her own free will, without coercion. This led them to approach the HC. Download the TOI App.
