Kochi : A 25-foot-tall installation named the Trojan Project, depicting a horse crafted from 850 electronic scrap components, weighing approximately two tonnes, was a major attraction at the 19th edition of cOcOn, India’s longest-running cybersecurity and hacking conference organised by Kerala Police. The installation was created by artist Davinci Suresh using around 850 pieces of discarded electronic scrap, including motherboards, processors, memory modules, circuit boards, cables and other electronic components. Childlight’s research estimates that more than 300 million children are affected by online sexual exploitation and abuse each year. The collaboration builds on the dedicated CSEA track at c0c0n 2026, conducted in partnership with Childlight, and underscores the importance of coordinated action among law enforcement agencies, researchers, technology companies, educators, families and child protection organisations.

The project seeks to make the risks of the digital world more tangible and understandable to the public. The Trojan Project was conceived in partnership with Childlight – Global Child Safety Institute, a data institute hosted by University of Edinburgh. The collaboration aims to use the installation’s visibility and symbolic significance to raise awareness of online child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA) and extend the message to audiences worldwide. Such threats can emerge through seemingly innocent digital interactions, including online games, applications, social media platforms and contacts that initially appear trustworthy. Through this partnership, the installation will serve as a focal point for awareness campaigns addressing online grooming, sextortion and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The initiative also aims to extend its reach through Childlight’s international networks, strengthening global advocacy for children’s safety in the digital environment. Beyond cybersecurity awareness, the installation also highlights the importance of responsible electronic waste management and recycling, demonstrating how electronic waste can be repurposed to create a meaningful public awareness initiative.
