Kanpur: A retired lab technician died after allegedly jumping in front of a train at Govindpuri railway station in Govind Nagar on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Rajkishor Rastogi (69), a resident of Vishva Bank in the Barra police station area.
Police said further investigation is underway. He had retired as a lab technician from LPS Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery around eight years ago. The family later received information about his death from the Government Railway Police (GRP). GRP personnel reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. Police identified Rajkishor through his Aadhaar card and other documents found on him and informed his family. The body was sent for post-mortem examination.
His elder son, Abhishek Rastogi, said Rajkishor had left home on Saturday morning, telling the family that he was going to buy medicines.
Family members said Rajkishor had been suffering from asthma for around two years and was under stress as he had not found relief despite continuous treatment. He is survived by his wife, Kusum Rastogi, and sons Abhishek and Oman.
