Kolhapur: The city traffic control branch and Paschim Maharashtra Devasthan Samiti have launched the ‘Kolhapur Smart Parking’ facility to help devotees visiting the Mahalaxmi temple during Navaratra find parking spaces. Scanning a QR code on a mobile phone will show the route to the designated parking lot on Google Maps and indicate parking availability.

Nandkumar More, police inspector, city traffic Branch, said parking has been arranged at several locations, including Main Rajaram High School, Bindu Chowk, Dr Zakir Hussain Secondary School, Shahu Stadium, Shivaji Stadium, Private High School, New High School, Petala Maidan, Gandhi Maidan, the 100-foot road near Khanwilkar Petrol Pump, Venus Corner Gadi Adda, Panchganga River Ghat, Nirman Chowk, Shahu Dayanand High School, Tapovan Maidan, the multi-storey parking facility near Saraswati Talkies, Maharani Laxmibai Gymkhana, Shahaji College, Karveer Panchayat Samiti premises, Mohammedan Education Society Nehru High School at Dussehra Chowk and Chitradurga Math, among others. With the temple area witnessing heavy crowds during Navaratra, the facility aims to ease parking woes.
