Nagpur: Taking cognisance of the recent attack on doctors at Colors Hospital and an extortion bid against a doctor in Pachpaoli, city police have prepared a Police-Medical Connect Directory covering 86 hospitals across six police stations. Deputy commissioner of police Annapurna Singh of Zone 2 is the point person in the initiative.
An FIR was registered soon after the CP’s meeting and the senior PI was suspended for the delay in action.─── Hospitals can contact officers directly by phone or group; call 112 in emergency The directory lists the name and address of each hospital in the jurisdictions of Sitabuldi, Sadar, Gittikhadan, Ambazari, Dhantoli and Mankapur police stations. It contains contact details of doctors and hospital administrative officers. It also names the concerned beat officer, senior police inspector, ACP and DCP along with their phone numbers. Last week, a group demanded money from a doctor at Hope Hospital in Pachpaoli police station area after a patient’s death.
The Times of India on Friday reported how a mob had stormed the ICU of Colors Hospital and allegedly assaulted doctors and staff after the death of a three-year-old girl. In an exclusive interview on Friday, commissioner of police Vishwas Nangre Patil told TOI that police were exploring preventive action to curb attacks on medical professionals. On Saturday, the CP chaired a meeting with hospital representatives, senior doctors and Indian Medical Association members to discuss doctors’ safety and better police-hospital coordination.
They can also reach them through a dedicated group,” said DCP Singh, adding that during any emergency, they can dial 112. The nearest QR code point for every hospital has been identified and marked too. “This will help hospitals in three clear ways. Beat marshals will regularly scan the QR codes and interact with hospital security staff. Hospitals can call their beat officer, senior PI, ACP or DCP.
