Nashik: Police have filed a case against a road construction company owner, a road engineer and a truck driver after a 12-year-old boy was killed and his father was seriously injured in an accident on Humbardi-Faizpur road in Jalgaon on Friday.
Based on a complaint lodged by the injured man’s brother-in-law, police registered a case under Section 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and other relevant provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The father and son were travelling on a motorcycle from Faizpur towards Anjala around 7pm when a truck allegedly coming from the wrong side of the road crashed into their vehicle, according to police. Faizpur police identified the deceased boy as Lalit Kaviraj Chavan, a native of Burhanpur district in Madhya Pradesh who was residing in Anjala village in Yaval taluka. His father, Kaviraj, suffered serious injuries and is undergoing treatment. The driver fled the spot without informing authorities or helping the victims. Lalit died from his injuries, while the motorcycle was badly damaged. The complaint alleged that ongoing road construction work was being carried out without adequate safety measures, warning signs or precautions, creating a hazardous situation that contributed to the fatal accident.
