Mike Evans joined the NFL in 2014. Then in 2020, Diggs’ younger brother Trevon Diggs was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. Mike Evans delivered one of the most memorable trash-talking moments of the 2026 NFL season.
Cyberspace won’t let it disappear anytime soon. A year later, Stefon Diggs entered the league. Not now, not ever.
It’s not unlikely for a player who is a 12-year veteran to not know someone who’s a 5-year veteran. Speaking after the San Francisco 49ers’ 32-29 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, the veteran said that he had been blocking Diggs until the whistle and believed the cornerback accused him of doing extra. Because he’s winning all the games after he transferred from a losing team [Tampa Bay Buccaneers] to a Super Bowl-contending team [San Francisco 49ers], that speaks to immaturity and rowdiness, as if he could do anything on the gridiron just. Because they weren’t ready for it, anyhow, it became a viral moment that had NFL fans laughing. Because i played against him a few times, and we’ve always been cool, “I didn’t know that was him at first,. Because in the helmet, it’s hard to tell sometimes,” Evans explained, and I honestly didn’t know it was him.
It just speaks to obliviousness. How inattentive, heedless, and unaware Mike Evans must be to ignore what is happening around him. Yes, he’s more into his game. But to insult someone who has been in the league for almost six years? Evans grabbed Diggs by the shoulders and turned him around to look at his nameplate, as if questioning the identity of the player confronting him. Or maybe he was disrespecting him while the cameras were watching? Mike Evans later justified his disrespectful actions. He was a good player.
