Agra : A special Pocso court in Mainpuri on Monday sentenced a 55-year-old man to life imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life for raping a 15-year-old Dalit girl on Sept 15, 2025. The court also imposed a hefty Rs 1 lakh fine, ordering the amount be given to the minor survivor as compensation.
An FIR was later registered under BNS 70 (2) (gang rape), 351-3 (aggravated criminal intimidation), SC/ST, Pocso and IT acts against two men on her family’s complaint. Additional district govt counsel Shailendry Rajput said, “The court punished the 55-year-old main accused under Pocso Act while dropping other charges. The court of Judge Jahendra Pal Singh found sufficient evidence to establish that the main accused from the same village had “committed penetrative sexual assault on the minor” and convicted him under section 4 (2) of Pocso Act and BNS 65 (1). The girl was cutting grass in a field when she was violated and a purported video of the crime was uploaded to defame her. It also held that the failure to prove gang rape did not prevent his conviction for the offence established by the evidence. The co-accused was acquitted of all charges as the evidence could not establish that the two had acted together. Download the TOI App.
