Officials said the plant will consist of 10 treatment units with a total treatment capacity of 0.5 MLD. Nashik: Nearly nine years after it was proposed, the common effluent treatment plant at Ambad MIDC remains incomplete, raising fresh concerns over industrial pollution and public health in the wake of the recent borewell water contamination in Dattanagar and nearby areas on Nashik’s outskirts. Bombay high court had directed MIDC to establish the common effluent treatment plant (CETP)while hearing the Godavari river pollution case. The CETP is designed to treat mixed industrial effluents and chemical waste generated by plating units.
Last year, petitioners Rajesh Pandit and Nishikant Pagare moved a contempt petition, alleging non-compliance with several court directions, including those concerning treatment of industrial effluents in Ambad MIDC.
The project has a total treatment capacity of 0.5 MLD and an estimated cost of Rs 13 crore,” a senior MIDC official told TOI .
MIDC officials said work is now in its final stages. “The construction work is underway and two of the 10 treatment units will be commissioned within the next week or two,” the official said. “The first two units are expected to be commissioned this month, while the remaining units will become operational in phases by the end of November.
