Pune: A teacher of a privately run kindergarten in Ghorpadi allegedly locked a three-year-old boy in the washroom on the morning of Sept 8 as he was “too playful” in the classroom. Senior inspector Smita Wasnik of Mundhwa police said the complainant had gone to the kindergarten to pick up her son. “As she was entering the kindergarten, a teacher told her that her son had been locked in the washroom after he was found to be too playful and having fun in class. The complainant confronted the teacher, who told her that there was no space in the kindergarten, which was why she had locked the boy in the washroom,” Wasnik said.

“The complainant approached the kindergarten manager, and they checked the CCTV footage, which allegedly showed the teacher locking the boy in the washroom. However, the next day, the CCTV footage was overwritten by new footage. “The kindergarten authorities refused to provide the CCTV footage to the boy’s parents, who suspect that the footage was deliberately deleted. We are investigating further,” Wasnik added. Download the TOI App.
