Tensions had been simmering between Ankit and Kaushal Gupta over the committee’s financial accounts, according to police. Police said Kaushal allegedly opened fire with a licensed rifle as the altercation intensified. One person was injured. Ankit and Mohit were hit by bullets, while Kunal, who worked at a local bookshop, was caught in the firing while returning home after work.

SP Pilibhit Sukirti Madhav said Kaushal Gupta, the main accused has been detained along with his associates Santosh Gupta and Harshit Gupta, a licensed rifled owned by Santosh Gupta and an illegal firearm has also been seized. The injured, Roz Gupta, is undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Dutuer investigations are on. Ankit and Kunal died on the spot.
