Kanpur: More than six people, including a six-month-old child, were injured when an autorickshaw overturned into a water-filled pit near Rizwan Farm House on Domanpur Road in Purvamir under Maharajpur police station limits on Tuesday.
The injured were identified as Sukhrani (55), Sanno, six-month-old Pradeep, Divyanshi (13), Ranno (30), Kunti (50), Vikas (8), Akanksha (3), and driver Satyam (24). The autorickshaw was travelling from Dibiyapur to the Chandrika Devi Temple at Baksar Ghat in Unnao for a child’s mundan ceremony when the driver lost control while negotiating a sharp turn, according to police. Eyewitnesses alleged that Satyam was driving at high speed and lost control at the turn. Passersby jumped into the water and rescued the women and children trapped in the vehicle. The autorickshaw was badly damaged in the accident. Police rushed the injured to a hospital for treatment and are investigating the incident. Download the TOI App.
