Lucknow : Facing an acute land crunch with 90% of its area developed, the Noida Authority is ready with a massive 20,000-hectare greenfield expansion. Being dubbed ‘an aggressive infrastructure push’, the move is likely to generate 5-6 lakh direct and indirect jobs by 2030. Unveiling the plan, Noida Authority chief executive officer (CEO) Krishan Karunesh said: “Developing New Noida across roughly 20,000 hectares has become critical to driving the region’s next phase of industrial expansion, with land acquisition slated to begin in phases. He pointed out that since its establishment in 1976 as an industrial township near Delhi, Noida has transformed into a primary economic powerhouse in North India, sustained by planned infrastructure, superior connectivity, and consistent capital inflows across manufacturing, IT, and commercial sectors.
“The state government is also working on policies to enable additional floor area ratio (FAR) in existing Noida, creating scope for further development,” Karunesh stated, ensuring mature zones can be redeveloped vertically alongside the greenfield rollout. To be called ‘New Noida’, the expansion aims to address rising industrial demand. To manage immediate growth pressures, the administration is pairing outward geographic expansion with increased vertical density. Connectivity will receive a parallel boost through three proposed metro corridors linking key hubs—including Botanical Garden, Gaur City via Char Murti, and the Boraki multimodal transport hub—integrating with lifelines like the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway, Yamuna Expressway, DND Flyway, and Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
Karunesh revealed that the upcoming fifth groundbreaking ceremony will feature around 120 industrial proposals with an estimated investment of nearly Rs 35,000 crore, spanning data infrastructure, electronics manufacturing, commercial real estate, logistics, and institutional development. Over the past three decades, the city has developed 90% of its footprint across 168 sectors, making approximately 9,500 industrial and 5,000 commercial allotments that generated over 12 lakh jobs. As of today, the hub contributes 10% of UP’s gross state domestic product, 60% of its electronics and IT exports, and nearly 80% of its apparel shipments, hosting major conglomerates including Samsung, Dixon, TCS, Infosys, HCL, Microsoft, Wipro, Adobe, and data centre operators such as Sify and AdaniConneX.
The scale of fresh corporate demand is already tangible. Looking ahead, Karunesh stressed that the authority is actively incentivising research and development in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and battery technologies, ensuring that New Noida reinforces Uttar Pradesh ’s broader manufacturing ecosystem and anchors sustained industrial momentum for decades to come.
