Former The Real Housewives of Potomac star Mia Thornton is facing a felony theft-by-taking charge in Georgia over allegations that she removed furniture and a television worth thousands of dollars from a furnished Atlanta condo in October 2025. Prosecutors allege that Thornton and Jared McGriff took the items, valued at between $5,000 and $25,000, while moving out of the rental property overnight on October 28, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. The latest filing follows Thornton’s arrest at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in November 2025, when police took her into custody over an outstanding larceny warrant. Receipts submitted to investigators placed the estimated value of the missing items at approximately $11,000, according to local reports at the time. The allegations concern the removal of the items in October 2025, several weeks before Thornton’s airport arrest. Thornton was arrested in November 2025 at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after officers responding to a wanted-person call at the Customs and Border Protection office discovered an active larceny warrant, Atlanta police said. A judge subsequently set her bond at $2,500. Fulton County Jail records had identified the alleged offence as felony theft by taking at the time of her arrest, CBS News Atlanta reported in November 2025. Under Georgia law, theft involving property valued at $5,000 or more but less than $25,000 can carry a prison sentence of one to 10 years, although a judge may impose a misdemeanor sentence under the applicable provisions.

Because she wanted to “put that furniture back, police body-camera footage from the arrest captured Thornton asking to contact someone who had access to a storage unit.

The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office filed the felony theft-by-taking charge, according to the court documents. The property manager reportedly told Atlanta police that the furnishings were part of the furnished rental and were not supposed to be taken from the unit. Prosecutors allege that Thornton and McGriff removed furniture and a television belonging to the condo owner without permission. The charge remains unresolved, and the allegations have not been established in court. She was taken into custody without incident.
