Acting on a tip-off, the squad laid a vehicle inspection trap at Amboli Phata on the Jawhar-Nashik Road within Amboli in Trimbakeshwar. Authorities also seized the vehicle and a cellphone belonging to the suspect, Santosh Nangare, smuggling the liquor into Nashik. Nangare is a resident of Nangare Mala, near Shakuntala Farm in Nashik.
Because liquor is significantly cheaper in Daman and Diu, people frequently attempt to smuggle it out to sell across the state and country for profits.
